New "X-Men: First Class" posters

At the end of February, here's a couple cool 'bonus' for all of you: the new "X-Men: First Class" posters with James McAvoy as Charles Xavier and Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr on it!

"X-Men: First Class" also starring Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Lucas Till as Havok, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost, Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore, and Jason Flemying as Azazel.

For those who think that this movie will be based on "X-Men: First Class" comic books, well, I have to say that it is not. Matthew Vaughn, the director, and Bryan Singer, the producer, said that they took the "First Class" title because it suits the plot, but not because it's based on the comic books.

They want to bring the real origins of X-Men, right when Charles and Erik were still friends and how they got themselves apart and change name into Professor X and Magneto. It is set in 1960s, way before the "X-Men: First Class" comics take part. That's why they won't include Scott Summers (Cyclops), Jean Grey (Marvel Girl), Angel, and Bobby Drake (Iceman).

I'm a huge X-Men fan, and I just can't wait to see this movie! It opens worldwide in June 3, but not in 3D. Click here for those who haven't seen the amazing trailer!

83rd Annual Academy Awards: "The King's Speech" won the Best Motion Picture and the biggest win with 4 awards, as well as "Inception"

The big day has finally come! First of all, pardon me for not tweeting nor live blogging for this very important event in movie world, I was at work and unfortunately my laptop couldn't connect to the office's internet, so it was a bummer (for the record I live in Indonesia, and it was Sunday, February 28, 8 am here when the show begins — it was surely not a prime time :D). Below I'm going to give you the full winner list (because you might have found out the 'early synopsis' from the event).

"The King's Speech" and "Inception" were the biggest winners of the night with four awards (Christopher Nolan doesn't need to be sad for not being nominated as Best Director, his movie won big!), followed by "The Social Network" with three, and then "Alice in Wonderland", "The Fighter", and "Toy Story 3" for two awards. I am so happy that my Oscars wishes (and predictions) were all right (except Best Original Screenplay which I predicted will go to "Inception"). Overall, the winners reeeally deserve this award, I am truthfully satisfied with the results! Congratulations once again for all of them!

Inside the Oscars: who's going to present what!

83rd Annual Academy Awards is just a few hours away, and since I won't be able to do any live coverage (both tweet or live blog), I'm going to give you a tidbits about what's gonna happen at the show! Thanks to Deadline, we got an exclusive details from the rehearsals, complete with the list of presenters and the nominations they are carrying (I posted the rehearsal photos yesterday).

Four new "Green Lantern" movie posters

Although summer is still pretty far away, the promotional marketing of "Green Lantern" has been starting to gear up. NECA, a collector's manufacturer, helped to promote this Ryan Reynolds-starring movie by making these four awesome wall posters:

The "Green Lantern" also starring Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard, and to be released worldwide in June 17!

"The Last Airbender" named Worst Movie and the big winner at the Razzie's Golden Raspberry Awards

Very cool special effects won't guarantee your movie to be cool either. This should be a huge lesson for any Hollywood directors, because we the audience won't be easily fooled by it. Even if we just wanted to watch a movie with simplified plot it doesn't mean that they can underestimate the other technical details. Shallow person like me actually pay attention to the dialogue details (screenplay) and scene continuity and relevance (apart of me being an OCD-er).

Take a look at 2009's big blockbuster-but-big whoop "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". This movie was no doubt full of AMAZING special effects — those robot fights were fantastic. But unfortunately employing good actors like Shia LaBeouf, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, and Tyrese Gibson (no I won't include Megan Fox in this — she's the worst part of the movie) wouldn't turn out to be good without a good script.

The movie ran for 2 hours with those spectacular effects but very weak storyline and dialogue. It grossed more than $800 million at the box office, but that won't do any good if the critics flunked it (for the record, The Rolling Stones gave the movie an 'F' grade — big FAIL!). As the result, this movie wasn't included as Best nor Most Favorite Movies that year at all (even the shallowest achievement like MTV Movie Awards* missed it), instead it won big at the Razzie's Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture. Michael Bay finally explained that the writer's strike affected the production, as they had to choose the script in the last minute without actually revised or corrected it. He made a promise that the third installment, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon", will be much better.

This case of "Revenge of the Fallen" apparently repeated last year. The whole world rejoiced after M. Night Shyamalan announced he was working on the movie version of Nickelodeon's favorite cartoon show "Avatar: The Legend of Aang". I personally love this cartoon so much, it has a meaningful story to told in each episode, and I expected the movie version will be even more epic than it. But, well, apparently high expectation does make a heartbreak. The movie was a complete failure.

Storyline? Bleh. Acting? Bleh. Casting? Bleh. Screenplay? Bleh. Special effects? Thumbs up! But then again, special effects won't prove anything. It's reeeally bad that M. Night made it like this, because I knew he could do better! At one point I even doubted him for watching the original show — where's the joyful and silly Aang (Noah Ringer)? He changed Aang into someone serious and rather 'desperate'. I loved to know that Dev Patel was on the movie, but isn't Prince Zuko should be 'oriental'? Same thing goes to Sokka (Jackson Rathbone) and Katara (Nicola Peltz), they are supposed to be tan.

Succeeding "Revenge of the Fallen", this movie was voted as the Worst Picture at this year's Razzie. "The Last Airbender" 'beat' its 'highest' worst contenders, "Sex and the City 2" and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse". Not only the Worst Picture, it also got Worst Screenplay, Worst Eye-Gouging Miss-use of 3D, and Worst Director for M. Night Shyamalan.

Meanwhile, "Sex and the City 2" took home Worst Ensemble Cast, Worst Sequel, and Worst Actress (for all four of them!). The "Twilight" fans should be thankful that apparently their movie wasn't the only worst on this planet, even though Jackson Rathbone, who played Jasper Cullen, got the Worst Supporting Actor (but I think it was based on his performance in "Last Airbender").

To be honest I thought "Vampires Suck" would be the biggest winner, because the movie was really really really suck. I mean if I had to choose between "Vampires Suck" and "The Last Airbender", I'd go with the latter because I'm still a fan of the original cartoon and Dev Patel was in it. "Vampires Suck" ranked only 4% in Rotten Tomatoes, while "Last Airbender" was slightly better in 7%. But the decisions have been made so I can't do anything.

If we normally congratulate the winner of an award, for this one I only can say, 'Sorry to hear that'.

*: Why do I think MTV Movie Award is shallow? Well, looking at the previous couple of years winner: how come "Twilight" beat "The Dark Knight" as the BEST MOVIE? How come "New Moon" beat "Avatar" and "Alice in Wonderland" as the BEST MOVIE? If "Eclipse" will win over "The Social Network" or "Inception" this year, I don't think I will watch MTV Movie Awards anymore, unless my idols are nominated and attending the show. Period.

Here comes the March: the movies you'd love to watch (Part 1)

I'm actually still ranting that there's still no further negotiations between Indonesian government and MPA about the tax problem — which means there's no possibility for me (and other Indonesian movie freak) to watch foreign movies next month. I have no capability in making the tax rules (I'm just a movie blogger, that's all), but I'm hoping MPA will finally agree to pay the taxes.

But I won't stop writing for this blog, so I'm going to give you some previews of movies coming out next month! February is almost over, and unfortunately not much going on in it. "I Am Number Four" and "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" might be the biggest blasts, but according to many writings I've read, we haven't found the 'it movie' of 2011 so far.

Here are the movies that you might want to watch in March, most of them with the wide/ international release. Inside this part one of the list, you'll find Matt Damon's action thriller "The Adjustment Bureau", the modern version of "Beauty and the Beast", "Beastly", Johnny Depp's transformation into an ugly chameleon in "Rango", and all-star cast comedy "Take Me Home Tonight".

Sneak peek at the Oscars rehearsal!

I have some sneak peek photos at the Oscars rehearsal tonight! Tom Hanks, Bruce Cohen, Kathryn Bigelow, Hillary Swank, and Celine Dion were spotted at the Kodak Theatre. Seems like Celine Dion will perform tomorrow, and the rest of them will present the nominations and winners. Check out some of the photos below:

Speaking of Oscars, I don't think I will do a livetweet tomorrow since I'll be at the office (it's my first day so I don't want to screw it up! ;D), but full coverage of the winners and photos will be posted here in my site. :)

"Black Swan" is the biggest winner in Independent Spirit Awards

"Black Swan" took home Best Film, Best Actress (Natalie Portman), Best Cinematography, and Best Director (Darren Aronofsky) at tonight's Independent Spirit Awards. Oscars' most favorited contender "The King's Speech" won Best Foreign Film, while "The Kids Are Alright" took home Best Screenplay.

The Oscar host James Franco was the Best Actor for his incredible performance in "127 Hours". Other indie favorite "Winter's Bone" won two awards for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, John Hawkes and Dale Dickey respectively.

"Marwencol" won Truer than Fiction award, but lost to "Exit through Gift Shop" in Best Documentary. "Marwencol", directed by Jeff Malmberg and starring Mark Hogancamp as the single actor, has received numerous positive critics and is definitely included in my 'must watch' list.

Viggo Mortensen is eyed to play General Zod in "Superman" reboot

The pre-production of "Superman" reboot (or temporarily known as "Man of Steel") is on the run. After announcing that British hunk Henry Cavill will be the new Clark Kent/ Superman, the studio is now searching for who's going to play the ultimate villain, General Zod.

This is not an official news, but ever since The Hollywood Reporter considered Viggo Mortensen to play Zod, seems like everyone has finally put an eye on him. The character Zod comes from the same planet as Superman, the Krypton, and made an appearance in 1980's "Superman II", played by Terence Stamp back then. Even so, Zack Snyder, director of the reboot, previously denied that Zod being the main villain was just a rumor, but many speculations said that he did so for a 'damage control'.

Mortensen famously portrayed Aragorn in the most successful epic-colossal movie "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and is reportedly set to play The Huntsman in upcoming "Snow White and the Huntsman". He also had a leading role in "History of Violence", and generally his movie career has been strong as ever.

Besides Mortensen, Kevin Costner was reportedly linked earlier to play Jonathan Kent, the adoptive father of Clark Kent, and the studio had cast Alice Eve, Rosamund Pike, and Diane Kruger for a female lead in the movie — in which they described as 'not Lois Lane'. Many said that they were screened to play Ursa, Zod's right-hand woman, but Pike's representative said she wasn't linked to this project.

Well, this is the kind of news from a movie that is still in pre-production phase, everything is merely speculation. But it's so interesting to follow that I can't help myself to write about it! Check back for more updates of the "Superman" reboot!

Jon Chu to direct "G.I. Joe 2"?

The director of "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never", "Step Up 3D", and "Step Up 2: The Streets", Jon M. Chu, is linked to the upcoming production of "G.I. Joe 2", the sequel of 2009's hit "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" — which was directed by Stephen Sommers.

Besides the director, the studio is also replacing some of the major actors for the leading roles. Reports said that Joseph Gordon-Levitt may not will return, as he is now filming for "The Dark Knight Rises". Sienna Miller won't be returning either, and the character of Baroness will be played by another actress.

"Toy Story" in a vacation!

After successfully making most of us cried behind the 3D glasses in last year's summer, the toys of "Toy Story" will be back again! Unfortunately they will only make a 'cameo' in a short movie which will be played before "Cars 2". For those who notice, this is acually a Pixar 'tradition', and I personally love all short movie snippets included before the main movie started ("Day and Night" was awesome!).

And here's a couple of stills from "Toy Story" short, which tells about the Woody and the gang go out for a vacation in Hawaii!

Catch them in "Cars 2", out this summer on June 24th!

New male lead for "The Bourne Legacy" is on search

The fourth installment of "Bourne" franchise is on the way. Tony Gilroy, the writer and director of the upcoming "The Bourne Legacy" is reportedly searching for a new male lead. It's not that Jason Bourne (the leading character from the previous trilogy played by Matt Damon) will be replaced — but the new lead will likely be the new main focus.

According to Variety, Gilroy puts an eye on three famous names: Garrett Hedlund, who dazzled the cinema last year in "Tron: Legacy" and "Country Strong", the Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal, and the former "Spider-Man" Tobey Maguire.

The production of this movie itself will begin this spring, soon after they find the leading man. It is to be released in August 3, 2012.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese team up again in "The Wolf of Wall Street"

The dynamic actor/director duo Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are reportedly will team up for the fifth time in "The Wolf of Wall Street". This project is set up at Warner Bros., and has been a big talk since 2007. Ridley Scott was initially chosen to direct it, but since "The Departed" won Best Picture at Oscars, Scorsese was in line to replace Scott, as well as his leading man DiCaprio.

Scorsese dropped the project for a while, but he finally back on track. According to Entertainment Weekly, "The Wolf of Wall Street" is based on Jordan Belfort's memoir, Wolf chronicles the author's debauched, hard-partying rampage in the world of high finance during the go-go ’90s. Belfort's law-breaking bender eventually landed him in federal prison.

"After almost four years in development, I can’t begin to tell you how thrilled I am to finally be working with Leo and Marty on this," said Belfort. "They're the ultimate dream team, and it was definitely worth the wait." The Wolf script was adapted by Terry Winter, who recently worked with Scorsese on the HBO series Boardwalk Empire.

From "Gangs of New York", "The Aviator", "The Departed", and then "Shutter Island", I think this movie is going to be epic. Can't get enough of any Scorsese/DiCaprio collaboration!

Movie Review: "The King's Speech"

Being a movie freak who lives in Indonesia is quite challenging. I'm a super curious person when it comes to the new releases, and I have this impulsiveness to must watch those newest ones. Unfortunately the foreign movies that arrive in my town, Yogyakarta, usually only the 'big-budget' ones. Those which are set for international/ wide release, for the smaller projects we usually have to wait until they arrive in Jakarta, then few weeks later they will arrive here. That's why we just got "The King's Speech" arrive here a couple of days ago. When my friend asked me "Do you want to watch 'The King's Speech' or 'Mechanics'?" I was like "'THE KING'S SPEECH' OF COURSE!!".

Knowing that the movie is highly acclaimed, I totally raised my expectations (it just won Best Film in the BAFTA, and is predicted to win Best Picture in the Oscars). And what can I say? The movie was wonderful! It came from a very simple idea, but Tom Hooper and the crew developed it into a beautiful pack of masterpiece. Great actors, great screenplay, great cinematography — that's all you need.

Colin Firth was 'man of the scenes'. He depicted the struggling Bertie perfectly, seems like something was hanging on his throat and that he actually wanted to say so many things but he couldn't. Firth was able to connect his struggle to the audience, in a very natural way. He raised our symphaty yet admiration of his strong will to be a good leader as his father wished for. At one point after reigning as King George VI, he was so desperate and screamed "I'm not a good king!" so many times — it was so heartbreaking.

Firth's vulnerable character was supported by the eccentric speech trainer Lionel Logue, played by Geoffrey Rush. Logue was initially reluctant to help Bertie when Bertie's wife came to him. But when she revealed that it was actually Duke of York who needed his help, he accepted the proposal directly. During the speech training (but it's more like 'therapy' to me), those two different characters met and they created this intriguingly dynamic conversation. Logue tried to dig into Bertie's mind, which Bertie rejected first, but slowly they got to know each other and bond naturally. Rush did amazing, he was all of encouragement, optimism, and confident. Exactly the kind of person Bertie needed, besides his loving wife Elizabeth (played by the-oh-so-amazing Helena Bonham Carter).

Overall, the movie was relaxed, positive, and really nice to watch. I really enjoy the flow of the plot. The actors were terrific — it was merely perfect cast. There was a lot of meaningful dialogue that I can't even remember. I don't know if this movie will beat the more-hype "Social Network", but this was absolutely an Oscar material. Five stars out of five!

Blake Lively, Chloe Moretz, and Kirsten Dunst are set for "Hick"

The three beauties are officially joining Derick Martini's coming-of-age drama/ comedy "Hick". The movie tells about a 13 years-old girl who runs away from Nebraska to Las Vegas, only to find that the Sin City delivers more than she bargained for. The movie will also starring Colin Farrell.

Blake Lively, who appeared in last year's action hit "The Town" will graze the summer blockbuster with Ryan Reynolds in "Green Lantern". Chloe Moretz, who will be the leading lady of this movie, appeared in the superhero comedy "Kick-Ass" (in which she played the iconic Hit-Girl) and the critically acclaimed horror movie "Let Me In" last year. While Kirsten Dunst, the former Spider-Man's true love, appeared in drama thriller "All Good Things" last year, will catch up with the audience again later this year alongside Garrett Hedlund and Kristen Stewart in "On the Road".

"Hick" is currently in pre-production and to be released at the end of this year.

New "Thor" trailer

Finally we get the first trailer to the upcoming summer blockbuster "Thor"! As you might know before, there was a frenzy on YouTube about "Thor"'s new trailer but it turned out to be a footage from Comic-Con — hell, we're all disappointed! But now the real one has finally come out, and it's pretty great to watch. Enjoy!

"Thor" is starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman, and is to be released in May 6.

Ashley Greene & Shiloh Fernandez in "Skateland" trailer

Check out the "Skateland" trailer with Ashley Greene ("The Twilight Saga") and Shiloh Fernandez ("Red Riding Hood") as the leading actors below:

The movie tells about Ritchie Wheeler (Fernandez), Michelle Burkham (Greene), and wise-cracking lady-killer Kenny Crawford (Taylor Handley) struggle with the collapse of their tumultuous home lives, the alcohol-induced idling of reckless adolescence, and the wane of their hometown hangout, the local roller rink. A story syncopated with moments of violent turbulence, of heartbreak and of new beginnings, Skateland shows the brutal, but beautiful vastness of East Texas blue skies and the emotional claustrophobia of the Bible belt. Skateland is a place where aging values wrestle with contemporary pop culture to create a paradoxical balance between old and new.

The movie is out March 25 for a limited release.

Olivia Wilde to star in "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider"?

Even though it unsuccessfully attracted critics, the "Tomb Raider" franchise surely was a huge box office. That's why the crew will bring the movie back to live in a 'reboot' project (just like what's happening to the superhero movies this time — go back to the start). Unfortunately, the iconic actress Angelina Jolie confirmed that she won't be joining any forthcoming "Tomb Raider" projects, so the studio needs to find a replacement.

But thanks to Movie Web, we got an inside scoop about this developing production. Olivia Wilde ("Tron: Legacy", "Cowboys & Aliens", and tv series "House"), is rumored to be the 'priority' to be cast. "This would be a far darker and more serious Tomb Raider movie, the idea is to get a top director and an intelligent script and make this an empowering character for women as well as a popular one with men. Olivia Wilde is one of the names being suggested for the lead role. She would appear to be ideal," said the source.

The "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" reboot is scheduled to be released in 2013.

Two new "Sucker Punch" TV spots

This might be one of the most awaited movie in my list, since Zack Snyder's works always blew my mind! Yesterday Warner Bros released two new TV spots of "Sucker Punch" — which are (of course) AWESOME. Check out them both below:

The movie opens March 25 worldwide, but no 3D. Starring Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, and Jenna Malone. Mark your calendar!!

Quickfix: "Sherlock Holmes 2" gets a title, Daniel Radcliffe is "The Amateur Photographer"

Official title: "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows"
Finally Warner Bros. has confirmed that the second installment of "Sherlock Holmes" will be titled "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows". The Guy Ritchie-directed movie will be released in December 16th this year, with recurring cast: Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law, and a new female lead played by Naomi Rapace. Stephen Fry also confirmed to play in this movie as Sherlock's brother, Mycroft.

Daniel Radcliffe joins "The Amateur Photographer"
According to Variety, Daniel Radcliffe is officially signed for "The Amateur Photographer", a movie directed by Christopher Monger (who was the man behind the success of Golden Globe-nominated television series "Temple Grandin"). The movie tells about a boy who's asked to take pictures of the private lives of a small town in 1970's New England.

"The Dark Knight Rises" Arkham Asylum image

Even though they haven't started filming yet, we now get the first glimpse of Arkham Asylum, the famous prison in Gotham City from the Batman universe (in the previous movies, all Batman's villains were captivated in this prison, including Joker and Mr. Freeze). This building is located on a set in Caddington, England.

Besides England, the filming locations also included Los Angeles, Bucharest, and Detroit. It is to be released in July 20, 2012 (just 17 days after "The Amazing Spider-Man"!), with Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Cane, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the leading stars.

Spidey gets a title "The Amazing Spider-Man"

To be honest, this was the first news I found when I browsed the internet earlier this morning. WHAT A GREAT ONE! Marc Webb-directed "Spider-Man" movie is officially titled "The Amazing Spider-Man", where we will see Andrew Garfield as the new Peter Parker/ the web slinger. Sony Pictures released a press statement regarding to this, with a pretty great bonus of a new Spidey still.

The movie also launched a new official website in http://www.theamazingspiderman-movie.com, and I proudly have signed up to their newsletters. I really don't want to miss any updates of this soon-to-be-amazing movie.

The Spidey will hit theaters in July 3, 2012 in 3D.

"One Day" reveals a new poster

This poster just really fit in to this special day, Valentine. Focus Features finally released a poster for the upcoming movie starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, "One Day". The image is pretty artsy, and photographically wonderful. See it below:

Tells about the love story between Emma and Dexter, who first meet on the night of their graduation in July 15, 1998. She is a working-class girl of principle and ambition who dreams of making the world a better place. He is a wealthy charmer who dreams that the world will be his playground. For the next two decades, every July 15th reveals to us how "Em" and "Dex" are faring, as their friendship ebbs and flows with the passing of the years. Through laughter and romance, heartbreak and exhilaration, they experience the grandeur of life. Somewhere along their journey, these two people realize that what they are searching and hoping for has been there for them all along.

I think I really need to see more drama/romantic movie like this — it's been a while! Moreover, Anne and Jim are my favorite actors, so this is definitely a must watch. The movie will be released July 8, 2011 in limited theaters, which means it might be released straight-to-DVD afterward internationally.

February 12, 2011

Anthony Mackie officially signed for "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"

"The Hurt Locker" star Anthony Mackie has officially signed in for "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", a movie based on Seth Grahame-Smith's novel with the same title. The movie will be directed by one of my favorite director Timur Bekmambetov (watch "Wanted" and "Daywatch" — he always bring the impossibly stunning action and visualization!), and is distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Another great thing is that Tim Burton ("Sweeney Todd", "A Nightmare Before Christmas", "Corpse Bride", "Alice In Wonderland" — okay, should I mention all of his amazing works?) also join this production as a producer. Benjamin Walker has been initially cast as the leading role earlier this month.

Here's an excerpt of the novel, as quoted from Grand Central Publishing:

"Indiana, 1818. Moonlight falls through the dense woods that surround a one-room cabin, where a nine-year-old Abraham Lincoln kneels at his suffering mother's bedside. She's been stricken with something the old-timers call "Milk Sickness."

"My baby boy..." she whispers before dying.

Only later will the grieving Abe learn that his mother's fatal affliction was actually the work of a vampire.

When the truth becomes known to young Lincoln, he writes in his journal, "henceforth my life shall be one of rigorous study and devotion. I shall become a master of mind and body. And this mastery shall have but one purpose..." Gifted with his legendary height, strength, and skill with an ax, Abe sets out on a path of vengeance that will lead him all the way to the White House.

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.

Using the journal as his guide and writing in the grand biographical style of Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough, Seth has reconstructed the true life story of our greatest president for the first time-all while revealing the hidden history behind the Civil War and uncovering the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation."

Sounds epic! As you might know I'm a big fan of vampire movies, and knowing that there will be a vampire movie with great director, storyline, and cast, it's just getting more exciting! "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" is to be released in June 22, 2012.

Abigail Breslin goes blood-sucking in "Innocence"

The talented young actress Abigail Breslin is reportedly joining Julianne Moore and Hilary Brougher in a vampire drama "Innocence". This is a movie based on novel by Jane Mendelsohn, tells about a young teenager entering an elitist private school after suffering the death of her mother, only to find that it houses a nest of nasty vampires.

Julianne Moore will play a nurse who romantically attracted to Abigail's on-screen father (who's not cast yet), but later turns out to be the 'villain' since she only wants the teen's virgin blood. This movie will start filming in summer and is to be released in 2012.

Nothing more delightful than a new vampire movie on the works. At least for me! ;)

Bryan Singer talks "X-Men: First Class" and its sequels

The former director of X-Men and X-2, Bryan Singer, who's now working as the producer of X-Men: First Class, spilled some tidbits about the upcoming summer blockbuster. Singer discussed about the timeline difference of the film and comic book version, particularly how could Havok (Alex Summers) be in the first class team while Cyclops (Scott Summers), his elder brother, isn't even present.

"Yes, the timeline is different. It wouldn't physically fit for him to be the brother of Cyclops. We take some liberties on that. There are notions, but, um, I don't want to give away certain interrelations, but let's just say there are some things that do adhere to the comic books and do so in a way the fans will get a kick out of. And those things can, perhaps, move forward into the future," said Singer.

He added that he really likes Lucas Till (who played Havok), which he described as "very cool" and "bring on some continuity in different time than the comic books". He described that the "First Class" period is when the characters haven't honed their ability yet, it's about recruiting the mutants and bring them together.

Singer also talked about the characters that previously appeared in first to third X-Men movies, but in younger version. "We have younger versions of Mystique and Beast, so I'm very excited about them and what they bring to the film. Jennifer Lawrence's work [as Mystique] and Nicholas Hoult's portrayal of Beast - these are characters that we've seen in the earlier films, but then these are very different portrayals and you have to bring a lot of attention to those."

First photo of the entire "Hobbit" cast

The cast of "The Hobbit" have been staying in New Zealand for the initial filming, and finally we got the snap of the whole cast from this week's press conference, thanks to MTV. These are fresh faces since they didn't star in the previous "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

Elijah Wood, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, and Ian McKellen all have confirmed that they will make a come back in this movie, but only in a supporting role. "The Hobbit" will start to shoot in March 21, since Peter Jackson just had a minor medical setback.

On set photos of "J. Edgar" with Leo DiCaprio and Armie Hammer

Leonardo DiCaprio and Armie Hammer along with Judi Dench were spotted in the Los Angeles set of Clint Eastwood's "J. Edgar". They look all suited up and were either attending or hosting a high-class party. Take a look below:

"J. Edgar" tells about the story of J. Edgar Hoover, the first director of FBI in 1935. Hoover is credited with building the FBI into a large and efficient crime-fighting agency, and with instituting a number of modern innovations to police technology, such as a centralized fingerprint file and forensic laboratories.

Earlier reports said that Leonardo and Armie are playing a couple, in which Armie described has 'a lot of kissing scenes'. This would be the main reason why I want to watch the movie apart from Clint Eastwood as the director — which always turns out amazing. YEAH! :D

Emma Watson will team up with Taylor Lautner in "Incarceron"

The "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson is the top contender of the female lead in "Incarceron". This movie is a sci-fi thriller based on Catherine Fisher's novel series. She will star alongside "Twilight"'s favorite werewolf Taylor Lautner. Below is a little sneak peek about the storyline:

...follows a young man named Finn (Taylor Lautner) incarcerated in a futuristic and completely self-contained living prison ruled by rivalry and savagery.

The daughter (Watson) of the prison's warden lives outside in a future world made to resemble the 17th century and is being forced into an arranged marriage. Both find a device, a crystal key, which allows them to communicate with each other and hatch a plan to escape their respective incarcerations.

This movie is still in a pre-production and have not selected any director yet.

Nicholas Hoult is "Jack the Giant Killer"

Bryan Singer gets his leading man. The star of UK's television series hit "Skins", Nicholas Hoult, finally announced to play Jack in Singer's upcoming project "Jack the Giant Killer". He won the role by beating other strong candidates like Logan Lerman ("Percy Jackson") and Andrew Garfield ("The Social Network").

This is such another great leap of Nicholas' career. Apart from the "Skins" fame, he had a role in "A Single Man" and supporting one in "Clash of the Titans". We also might catch him in "About A Boy" when he was little. This year, he will appear in "X-Men: First Class" (watch the trailer here!) as Hank McCoy aka Beast. He's been signed to play a role in "Mad Max: Fury Road" which starts filming next year. And he's dating "Winter's Bone" actress (and his co-star in "X-Men: First Class") Jennifer Lawrence.

Nicholas will play alongside Stanley Tucci, Bill Nighy, and John Kassir. The filming will begin in March, and due to be released next year.

FINALLY! The "X-Men: First Class" first trailer is here!

I'm too excited I can't think of any words to comment on this. ENJOY THE TRAILER!

Amber Heard is wanted for "Red Sonja"

Avi Lerner, the producer of "Red Sonja" movie told so himself to Empire Magazine, "Amber is the new Red Sonja, but she doesn't even know it yet!". The production planned to cast Rosie McGowan as the lead role, however the process halted for a moment but now Nu Image and Millennium Films announced that it's back on track.

Here's a detail about "Red Sonja" from Coming Soon:

The character of Red Sonja, a fiery-haired warrioress in a chainmail bikini, seeks vengeance on those who destroyed her family. In her path of destruction she discovers a larger purpose for her unearthly powers: to save all Hyrkania from the villainous Kulan Gath.

Long in development, Red Sonja was once announced to star Rose McGowan and would have featured Robert Rodriguez and Doug Aarniokoski directing. (Officially, Aarniokoski would direct, but Rodriguez told a crowd at Comic-Con in 2008 that that was the result of the tricky ins and outs of dealing with the Director's Guild and that he'd be very much hands-on behind the camera). The project even went so far as to receive teaser posters and other promotional images.

While the character is often credited to Robert E. Howard (creator of Conan the Barbarian), she only takes her name from another, unrelated Howard character and was primarily designed by Roy Thomas to appear in Marvel Comics' take on Howard's Hyborian Age. "Red Sonja" comics are currently published by Dynamite Entertainment.

Red Sonja will presumably spinoff from the upcoming Conan the Barbarian, hitting theaters on August 19th.

Blake Lively is the new Carrie Bradshaw?

Seems like 2011 is another shining year for the lovely Blake Lively! Earlier this year, she was voted by Ask Men as the Most Desireable Woman, and we all know that she's one of the most fashionable woman in this world. Now she is currently in talks to star as Sex and the City's leading lady Carrie Bradshaw. Wait... what?

It's not that she's going to replace Sarah Jessica Parker. Michael Patrick King, the creator of Sex and the City television series is rumored to make two new movie installments for Sex and the City (despite the harshly criticized 2010 movie — which is now in the run to bring Worst Movie in this year's Razzie Awards) and is interested to bring Blake Lively in as the younger version of Carrie Bradshaw.

This rumor came up after the original book writer Candace Bushnell published a spin-off called The Carrie Diaries, about Carrie's first months in NYC. "The prequel is about breathing new life into the story and exploring Carrie's first few months in NYC and the beginning of her relationship with an older man," an insider told Grazia mag. This means, Carrie has not met her friends, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, making her the center of the attention.

I think Blake is perfectly fit for the Bradshaw role, since she's already the 'it girl' of Manhattan in Gossip Girl series. For those who wants to see her outside the glamor and fabulosity of designer's clothes, check her out in this summer's Green Lantern where she stars as Ryan Reynold's love interest, Carol Ferris.

A blast at Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never" premiere!

This might be one of the most anticipated movies by the tweens. Justin Bieber: Never Say Never follows behind the scenes of Justin's world tour, and is available in 3D. Directed by Jon M. Chu (Step Up 3D), people believed that this movie will bring stunning visualizations. Check out the trailer below:

Well, I'm not a 'Belieber' but since this site is set to provide any news from the movie world then of course this one is counted. I got some photos from last night's movie premiere of Never Say Never, and as Perez Hilton tweeted earlier, it was pretty crazy and full of stars. Miley Cyrus, Will.I.Am, the adorable Smith family from Will, Jada Pinkett, Jaden, and Willow, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Usher, Heather Locklear, Ariana Grande, Whitney Port, Chloe Moretz, and of course Bieber's girl Selena Gomez were all present. Hope the Beliebers who are viewing this post will smile since I give you all some of the photos.
