Robin McLeavy is Abraham's Lincoln mother in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"

(This news might be late -- but it's better be than never, right? :D)

Australian actress Robin McLeavy has been officially cast as Abraham Lincoln's mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln, in the upcoming horror flick "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". She was initially trying out for Mary Todd role, but eventually it went to Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Although McLeavy's name is relatively new and unknown for most of us, seems like she has nailed her audition and attracted Timur Bekmambetov, the director, to hire her. McLeavy's role is rather small but pivotal. In the novel, Nancy Hanks Lincoln is killed by a supernatural creature, making Abraham fuels his passion to kill vampires and their slave-helpers.

Abraham Lincoln is played by Benjamin Walker, star of "Flags of our Fathers" and "The War Boys", while his wife Mary Todd Lincoln played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. "The Hurt Locker" and the now playing "The Adjustment Bureau" actor Anthony Mackie also stars as William Seward, as well as Dominic Cooper and Jimmi Simpson as Henry Sturgess and Joshua Speed respectively. This is the most recent cast list so far. Behind the scene, Bekmambetov is directing while Seth Grahame-Smith, the original novelist and the writer of upcoming Tim Burton and Johnny Depp's collaboration "Dark Shadows" makes the screenplay. Burton is also a producer for this movie along with Jim Lenley (who previously worked with Bekmambetov in "Wanted").

"Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" is scheduled to come to theatres on June 22, 2012.

Trentz Reznor won't score nor star in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"

After setting the record straight through the Nine Inch Nails' official forum, it is clear that Trent Reznor is not going to star nor score for "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". Below is Reznor's statement taken verbatim from the message boards:

"Don't believe everything you read. As it turns out, I WON'T be working on (acting or scoring) ALVH after all. There's no juicy story here, it's just that when the news mysteriously leaked out about my involvement I hadn't made up my mind completely, because various aspects of the project were changing. I felt the need to say something earlier this week because my inbox was filling up with speculation, and at that moment I thought I would be doing it. Confused yet? Apparently I am.

Bottom line, I wish them the best with the film and I'm sure it will still be great. Also, in all the excitement of the last note I forgot to mention we're still fully engaged with the Year Zero mini-series, writing away."

The Academy Award winning composer was falsely announced to join the Timur Bekmambetov directed movie, which will be released in June 22, 2012. Bekmambetov did amazing in 2008's action flick "Wanted" which stars James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie, and I even enjoyed his rather absurd vampire series "Night Watch" and "Day Watch". It means that I literally will watch "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"!

In another note, seems like Reznor is still attached to score for David Fincher's upcoming page-to-screen adaptation "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo", starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig.

Trent Reznor will join "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"

As his work for "The Social Network" won Best Original Score at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, Trent Reznor who's also the frontman of techno-rock band Nine Inch Nails is now reportedly joining "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter".

According to Coming Soon, Reznor will both score and act in this Timur Bekmambetov-directed movie, which to be released in June 22, 2012. If he do so then he will star alongside Benjamin Walker and Mary Elizabeth Winstead who were previously announced.

Besides "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", Reznor is also up to score David Fincher's next masterpiece, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig, in which he will reunite with Atticus Ross, his partner for "The Social Network" scoring.

Anthony Mackie officially signed for "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"

"The Hurt Locker" star Anthony Mackie has officially signed in for "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", a movie based on Seth Grahame-Smith's novel with the same title. The movie will be directed by one of my favorite director Timur Bekmambetov (watch "Wanted" and "Daywatch" — he always bring the impossibly stunning action and visualization!), and is distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Another great thing is that Tim Burton ("Sweeney Todd", "A Nightmare Before Christmas", "Corpse Bride", "Alice In Wonderland" — okay, should I mention all of his amazing works?) also join this production as a producer. Benjamin Walker has been initially cast as the leading role earlier this month.

Here's an excerpt of the novel, as quoted from Grand Central Publishing:

"Indiana, 1818. Moonlight falls through the dense woods that surround a one-room cabin, where a nine-year-old Abraham Lincoln kneels at his suffering mother's bedside. She's been stricken with something the old-timers call "Milk Sickness."

"My baby boy..." she whispers before dying.

Only later will the grieving Abe learn that his mother's fatal affliction was actually the work of a vampire.

When the truth becomes known to young Lincoln, he writes in his journal, "henceforth my life shall be one of rigorous study and devotion. I shall become a master of mind and body. And this mastery shall have but one purpose..." Gifted with his legendary height, strength, and skill with an ax, Abe sets out on a path of vengeance that will lead him all the way to the White House.

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.

Using the journal as his guide and writing in the grand biographical style of Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough, Seth has reconstructed the true life story of our greatest president for the first time-all while revealing the hidden history behind the Civil War and uncovering the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation."

Sounds epic! As you might know I'm a big fan of vampire movies, and knowing that there will be a vampire movie with great director, storyline, and cast, it's just getting more exciting! "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" is to be released in June 22, 2012.
