Jonathan Liebesman talks "Battle: Los Angeles" (plus some tidbits of "Wrath of the Titans"!)

Thanks to Dark Horizons for this very interesting interview with Jonathan Liebesman, the director of the upcoming "Battle: Los Angeles". Liebesman tried to sum up of what's actually happening inside this movie, and he bravely said that it is "no "Independence Day"". This is interesting because from what we saw from the trailer, "Battle: Los Angeles" seems to be about men vs alien war movie.

"The truth is… with this movie I didn’t want it to be about taking out the landmarks," Liebesman said. He pointed out that we won't get to see the buildings in Los Angeles demolished into pieces, like the other big-budget science fiction flicks (let's say like what Roland Emmerich did in "Independence Day" in which he destroyed White House through an alien spaceship, and Michael Bay in "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" who broke off pyramid through Transformers' arch-enemy Devastator).

Los Angeles is being attacked by an enormous army of unfriendly alien in this movie. The US troops, led by Sergeant Michael Nantz (played by Aaron Eckhart) have to save the citizen as many as they can and to fight the alien. Even so, what Liebesman tried to emphasize in it is the bond and relation of the member of the troop itself. As the Dark Horizon described, "Battle: Los Angeles" will be more like "Black Hawk Down" and "Letters from Iwo Jima" than the other Hollywood UFO sci-fi flicks.

Evan Rachel Wood Talks "The Ides Of March"

Evan Rachel Wood spilled some tidbits about her upcoming movie "The Ides Of March" at the HBO Winter 2011 TCA Panel, in which George Clooney will 'act' as the director, screen writer, as well as one of the leading actors.

Evan said that she's going to start filming in February, and it is mainly about politics and democratic primaries. "More the politics of politics. Behind the scenes of the press secretary and what goes on in that world. I play an intern,".

She also said that her intern character could have relations with someone 'higher up' like Monica Lewinsky. "Could be. But I wouldn't necessarily say Monica Lewinsky. But she does get a bit in trouble,".

"The Ides Of March" is due to be released December 2011 based on a play by Beau Willmon. The story tells about 'an idealistic staffer for a newbie presidential candidate gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail.'

Besides Evan and George, it has been confirmed that Ryan Gosling, Phillip Seymour-Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, and the newcomer Max Minghella (who played Divya Narendra in "The Social Network") will also star.

First Look at Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander

Anyone of you is a fan of Stiegg Larsson's best selling novel "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo"? Here's the first look of Rooney Mara who has been chosen to play Lisbeth Salander, the leading female character of the movie directed by David Fincher. The beautiful 25-years-old actress looks 'different' than usual, rocking the dark and super short haircut with piercings and tattoos.

W Magazine did an exclusive photoshoot and interview to Rooney and David, talking mostly about the whole casting process and in-depth talks about the movie. From the interview, David said that they had five or six girls audition with some familiar names such as Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, and the young rising stars Jennifer Lawrence and Emily Browning.

The role eventually went to Rooney, as David wanted Rooney from the beginning of the audition. They previously worked together in 2010's most-acclaimed hit "The Social Network", where Rooney played a minor-but-significant character, Erica Albright. David claimed Rooney as incredibly talented and wanted to work with her again in this franchise. For full article and interview, please click here.

"The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" will also star Daniel Craig, Robin Wright, Stellan Skarsgard, and Christopher Plummer, to be released in December 21, 2011.
