Anthony Mackie officially signed for "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"

"The Hurt Locker" star Anthony Mackie has officially signed in for "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", a movie based on Seth Grahame-Smith's novel with the same title. The movie will be directed by one of my favorite director Timur Bekmambetov (watch "Wanted" and "Daywatch" — he always bring the impossibly stunning action and visualization!), and is distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Another great thing is that Tim Burton ("Sweeney Todd", "A Nightmare Before Christmas", "Corpse Bride", "Alice In Wonderland" — okay, should I mention all of his amazing works?) also join this production as a producer. Benjamin Walker has been initially cast as the leading role earlier this month.

Here's an excerpt of the novel, as quoted from Grand Central Publishing:

"Indiana, 1818. Moonlight falls through the dense woods that surround a one-room cabin, where a nine-year-old Abraham Lincoln kneels at his suffering mother's bedside. She's been stricken with something the old-timers call "Milk Sickness."

"My baby boy..." she whispers before dying.

Only later will the grieving Abe learn that his mother's fatal affliction was actually the work of a vampire.

When the truth becomes known to young Lincoln, he writes in his journal, "henceforth my life shall be one of rigorous study and devotion. I shall become a master of mind and body. And this mastery shall have but one purpose..." Gifted with his legendary height, strength, and skill with an ax, Abe sets out on a path of vengeance that will lead him all the way to the White House.

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.

Using the journal as his guide and writing in the grand biographical style of Doris Kearns Goodwin and David McCullough, Seth has reconstructed the true life story of our greatest president for the first time-all while revealing the hidden history behind the Civil War and uncovering the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation."

Sounds epic! As you might know I'm a big fan of vampire movies, and knowing that there will be a vampire movie with great director, storyline, and cast, it's just getting more exciting! "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" is to be released in June 22, 2012.

Eva Green is the female lead in "Dark Shadows"

Magnificent director Tim Burton is remaking the popular 1960s horror soap opera "Dark Shadows" into a motion picture. He already chose Johnny Depp — his ultimate muse — for the leading man as Barnabas Collins, which is a vampire.

There were talks about who's going to play opposite Depp in the horror movie, and finally it went to the French actress Eva Green (who was famous of portraying Vesper Lynd, the girl who broke James Bond's heart in "Casino Royale"), according to Deadline. Green landed a role as Angelique, a powerful witch who has an affair with Barnabas. Green will star amongst other actresses who reportedly also landed roles in this movie, Bella Heathcote as Victoria Winters and Jackie Earle Haley as Willie Loomis.

"Dark Shadows" will feature a lot of supernatural creatures, from vampires, zombies, witches, monsters, warlocks, even parallel universe. I haven't watched the series but knowing that the ingenious Tim Burton will direct it, this will probably be amazing. I already imagined that we'll see breathtaking visualization in this movie like he did to "Alice in Wonderland" and "Sweeney Todd"!

I found a fan-made trailer of the classic "Dark Shadows" on YouTube, about the ressurection of Barnabas Collins, which I think it's pretty awesome. Please check it out below:
