Earlier this March, it was announced that Channing Tatum is set to play in "Peter Pan Begins", written by Billy Ray and produced by Joe Roth. This movie will tell about the start of the famous fairy tale originated from Scottish novel "The Little White Bird", written by J.M. Barrie in 1904. But we all probably know Peter Pan more in the Disney version, in which he was a little boy who can't grow up, escaping his human live to the fairy world.
However, it is still not clear about what character is Tatum going to play. I mean, it's almost impossible if he was set to play an infant Peter Pan. Tatum is a hunk (not because I like him -- it's merely a fact! :D), he's been always set to play superheroes or an army (let's say he almost starred in any action flicks). So if they choose Tatum to play Peter Pan, I don't think it's a wise choice. Some said that he's going to be Captain Hook, but still, there's no confirmation.
And now apparently this production will actually come to live, as Sony Pictures has made a deal to acquire it, Deadline reports. It's still in negotiations but seems like Sony puts trust on the "Peter Pan" current team. Billy Ray, the writer, known for his awesome works in "Shattered Glass", "Flightplan", and "Breach", is currently being appointed to write a screenplay for page-to-screen adaptation "The Hunger Games". While Joe Roth, the producer, was the man behind this year's Oscar winning fairy tale movie "Alice in Wonderland", and recently producing the upcoming "Snow White and the Huntsman" starring Kristen Stewart.
