I think Wonder Con is a heaven for all movie mania. I am not attending Wonder Con of course as I am now here in Indonesia, but only looking at the tweets of people there in Vegas -- the event seems to be really awesome! Besides meeting the stars of the movies, they also get to see some exclusive previews and attend the discussion panel. SUPER AWESOME, RIGHT?

And through the Wonder Con, Marvel finally released the latest posters of "Thor", in which we can see Chris Hemsworth as God of Thunder, Thor and Tom Hiddleston as God of Mischief, Loki, both in full armor.

My first article about Indonesian feature: the upcoming "?" by Hanung Bramantyo

Finally! I managed to write an article about an Indonesian movie! I was pretty confused to pick which title to write. But then I surfed the web and found this thread in Kaskus forum about upcoming drama movie directed by Indonesia's acclaimed Hanung Bramantyo, titled "?" or simply, 'untitled'. Read on the article to see the movie posters and trailer!

This movie tells about three different Indonesian families. First, family of Tan Kat Sun (Henky Solaiman), a father and owner of a successful Chinese food restaurant. But he is irritated by his son, Ping Hen's (Rio Dewanto) attitude, who seems careless to the family. Ping Hen falls in love with Menuk (Revalina S. Temat), a beautiful woman from a Moslem family, who works in his father's restaurant. Unfortunately Menuk already made her choice, by marrying Soleh (Reza Rahadian), who's actually an unemployement and less fortunate than Ping Hen, but shares the same belief with her, Islam.

The third family is Rika's (Endhita), a widow with a child who starts a relationship with a single man named Surya (Agus Kuncoro) after divorcing with her then husband. Surya works as an actor and is a Moslem, while Rika opens a book store and was formerly Moslem but converted to Catholic after her divorce. Their religion difference not just causes a stir between their neighbors, but also inside Rika's family as well. But Rika sticks with her decision and tries to prove that she makes the right choices.

From the short description above, this movie depicts the reality of Indonesian culture and living. Religion difference has been a problem for married/dating couples. Indonesia isn't a secular country, and that's how the people live as well, so Indonesians (including me) always referring to their beliefs as their way of life. We can't get rid of that, it's not a simple matter. And I think this movie wants to carry out this question: why can't we put aside this fundamental difference and live our relationship with one simple base; love?

New movie posters: "Thor", "Priest", and "Kung-Fu Panda 2"

As the summer is getting closer, then the promotion of the future blockbuster is gearing up! We now have the latest posters of this year's most exciting movies: "Thor", "Priest", and "Kung-Fu Panda 2". The posters are available at the very bottom of this post, so keep on reading!

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios have finally released the newest banner (as displayed above) and poster of "Thor", featuring Chris Hemsworth in red. The Australian actor is recently added to the non-American-who-plays-American-superheroes list, along with Christian Bale who currently plays Batman, Hugh Jackman who was more elevated when he landed the Wolverine role in "X-Men" trilogy, and the newly selected Andrew Garfield and Henry Cavill in Spider-Man and Superman reboot respectively. New "X-Men: First Class" posters

At the end of February, here's a couple cool 'bonus' for all of you: the new "X-Men: First Class" posters with James McAvoy as Charles Xavier and Michael Fassbender as Erik Lensherr on it!

"X-Men: First Class" also starring Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Lucas Till as Havok, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost, Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore, and Jason Flemying as Azazel.

For those who think that this movie will be based on "X-Men: First Class" comic books, well, I have to say that it is not. Matthew Vaughn, the director, and Bryan Singer, the producer, said that they took the "First Class" title because it suits the plot, but not because it's based on the comic books.

They want to bring the real origins of X-Men, right when Charles and Erik were still friends and how they got themselves apart and change name into Professor X and Magneto. It is set in 1960s, way before the "X-Men: First Class" comics take part. That's why they won't include Scott Summers (Cyclops), Jean Grey (Marvel Girl), Angel, and Bobby Drake (Iceman).

I'm a huge X-Men fan, and I just can't wait to see this movie! It opens worldwide in June 3, but not in 3D. Click here for those who haven't seen the amazing trailer!

"One Day" reveals a new poster

This poster just really fit in to this special day, Valentine. Focus Features finally released a poster for the upcoming movie starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, "One Day". The image is pretty artsy, and photographically wonderful. See it below:

Tells about the love story between Emma and Dexter, who first meet on the night of their graduation in July 15, 1998. She is a working-class girl of principle and ambition who dreams of making the world a better place. He is a wealthy charmer who dreams that the world will be his playground. For the next two decades, every July 15th reveals to us how "Em" and "Dex" are faring, as their friendship ebbs and flows with the passing of the years. Through laughter and romance, heartbreak and exhilaration, they experience the grandeur of life. Somewhere along their journey, these two people realize that what they are searching and hoping for has been there for them all along.

I think I really need to see more drama/romantic movie like this — it's been a while! Moreover, Anne and Jim are my favorite actors, so this is definitely a must watch. The movie will be released July 8, 2011 in limited theaters, which means it might be released straight-to-DVD afterward internationally.

Quickfix: Michael Fassbender joins "Prometheus", new poster of "Ceremony"

Michael Fassbender will star in Ridley Scott's "Prometheus"
The new Magneto in upcoming "X-Men: First Class", Michael Fassbender, is reportedly official to join "Prometheus". This is a movie about the prequel of classic "Alien" trilogy, will be directed by Ridley Scott. Before Michael, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo"'s star Naomi Rapace has been signed in first. The movie has received its official release date, on June 8, 2012. I must admit when I was little, I never get bored of watching the "Alien" movies—I don't even know why. Maybe this was the beginning of why I love science fiction movies!

New poster of "Ceremony" featuring Uma Thurman and Michael Angarano
A new drama movie directed by Max Winkler, "Ceremony", has released its official poster (thanks to Moviefone and Magnolia Pictures)! Starring Uma Thurman, Michael Angarano, and Lee Pace, this movie tells a story about a young guy named Sam Davis (Angarano) who approaches a documentary filmmaker Whit Coutell (Pace), only to rekindle his romantic relationship with Coutell's wife, Zoe (Thurman). Hmm... A wedding crasher? Sounds interesting! "Ceremony" will hit theatre in April 8.

Can't get enough of "Sucker Punch"!

For those who have read this blog from the start might notice that I'm looking forward to this movie, "Sucker Punch", very much! I've been admiring Zack Snyder since "300", and not questioning about his mastery in graphics and special effects ever since. As for "Sucker Punch", I don't know if this movie will be substantial but I am so attracted to its super cool trailer.

Now the character posters have been released, and they look awesome. It's actually a bit old news, but I post it in case you haven't seen them. Mark your calendar for Snyder's masterpiece, March 25, starring Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Jamie Chung, and Vanessa Hudgens!

The "Source Code" poster finally comes out!

Thanks to Yahoo! Movies, we now have the official poster of "Source Code", as released by Summit Entertainment. It's so exciting because I miss watching Jake Gyllenhaal in an action movie!

Here's a short description of "Source Code" from its Yahoo! Movies page:
When decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. In an assignment unlike any he's ever known, he learns he's part of a government experiment called the "Source Code," a program that enables him to cross over into another man's identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With a second, much larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter re-lives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack.
And here's the movie trailer:

"Source Code" is directed by Duncan Jones, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, and Vera Farmiga. To be released worldwide April 1, 2011!

The "X-Men: First Class" are Here!

First of all, I am so sorry for the lack updates. My internet device was broken and apparently it took more than three days for the ISP company to send a technician and fix it. It's not that I was too lazy to go to an internet cafe, it's been raining real hard almost every day here. It was also disadvantaging for me since I got left out of many interesting news.

One of them is the official poster release of my most awaited movie this year, "X-Men: First Class". This image depicts the logo of Professor Xavier's exclusive mutant school. Looks awesome!

And then there was also a photo of the "X-Men: First Class" cast in full make up and costume. This photo turned out to be a fake, even Matthew Vaughn, the director, thought that it was badly 'photoshopped'. Nevertheless, it pretty much described the characters, and I thought it's pretty cool. Check the photo below:

From left to right: Michael Fassbander as Magneto, Rose Byrne as Dr. Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost, Jason Flemying as Azazel, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Lucas Till as Havok, Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and James McAvoy as Professor X.

But then finally a bunch of official stills have been released, take a look!

For all X-Men fans, mark your calendar: June 3, 2011!

Michael Bay Talks About 'Fixing' "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen" Through the Third Installment

Michael Bay came forward in talks about how Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen was a mess, and that he’s going to make it up through Transformers: Dark Of The Moon—saying that this movie is going to be superior than the previous two, and will be the last Transformers movie he directed.

"It was kind of a mess, wasn’t it? Look, the movie had some good things in it and it was entertaining and it did very well, but it also failed in some key ways. I learned from it. And now with this third movie we’re going back to basics and I absolutely believe this is going to be a much better film than the second one," he said.

Michael also explained that the writers' strike affected the production process of "Revenge of the Fallen", that he only had three weeks to get the story and almost going through the movie without a script. "It’s tough to do that. It was too big of a movie. There were too many endings or too many things that felt like endings. There was so much animation [in the visual effects postproduction work], too, and we ran out of time."

Check out the teaser trailer of "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon" below.

Well, I believe in you Michael. I really hope you bring the third movie into something like you did to "Armageddon", "Bad Boys", and "Pearl Harbor". Catch Shia LaBeouf and his new co-star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley on "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon" in July 1, 2011, also available in 3D.
