Quick Fix: there's a chance for Robin, Lois Lane, and Cobie Smulders!

Today's quick fix is still related to the upcoming superhero movie projects! I think I've been a bit obsessed with it, but nothing more exciting than these news. So here we go!

Will "The Dark Knight Rises" bring on Robin?
As you have found out at the start of February, "Inception" star Joseph Gordon-Levitt is joining "The Dark Knight Rises" even though his role is still 'kept in secret'. People speculated that Joseph will play The Riddler (which previously was played by Jim Carrey), since they think a Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) and Bane (Tom Hardy) won't be 'enough' to fight the Batman. But then the fans started to gear up that Joseph might be portraying Batman's long time sidekick, Robin, even though they also argued that he's somehow too old to play this part. Afterall, Christian Bale himself has stated that if they included Robin in this movie then he'll likely 'walk away' from this project. This news hasn't been confirmed yet, but I think it's a really cool thing if Robin finally brought up. The last time we saw Robin in Batman movies was in "Batman & Robin", which was deemed as the 'worst' Batman movie ever, despite George Clooney playing the leading man.

Lois Lane will still be featured in "Man of Steel"
Superman's one true love Lois Lane will likely still be featured in the "Man of Steel" reboot, as news are gearing up that one of Superman's lady villain from the Krypton, Ursa, will make a come-back. So here's what fuzzing around these days: Diane Kruger, Alice Eve, and Rosamund Pike were the front-runners to play a leading female role in "Man of Steel", which is NOT Lois Lane. But I don't think they will star as Lana Lang either, because it just simply doesn't fit. So all Lois & Clark fans (including me) started to get disappointed, because our very own OTP won't be on the movie. Thankfully, there was a bit relief yesterday, that WB Pictures were actually casting those actresses to play Ursa. She is Zod's right-hand woman from both the original 1978 Superman and 1981's Superman II, which was played by British actress Sarah Douglas opposite Terence Stamp's General Zod. Another great news is that Lois Lane is definitely in the current draft of the script and will have a major part in this Zack Snyder-directed movie.

One step closer for Cobie Smulders to join "The Avengers"
My favorite cast from "How I Met Your Mother", Cobie Smulders, is reportedly this close to play Maria Hill, the ruthless interim executive director of SHIELD, who was not above blackmailing and bullying superheros to get her way. She was eventually supplanted in that top job by Tony Stark aka Iron Man. As with all Marvel movies, the deal comes with a pile of options for appearances in future superhero films. So it's pretty far from a speculation that she will play Jane van Dyke, but still, this character has a pretty big impact in "The Avengers" movie. The production will start filming in April, and the movie will be released in May 4, 2012 distributed by Disney.

James Franco is up for "Oz" after Johnny Depp passes

This year's Academy Award host and Best Actor nominee, James Franco, is currently in talks to star in "Oz, the Great and Powerful". This is a prequel of Disney's classic "The Wizard of Oz", and will be directed by Sam Raimi. James' name is the strongest alternate after Robert Downey, Jr., the first actor offered this role confirmed he won't continue this production, and then Johnny Depp passed this role last night.

"Oz, the Great and Powerful" tells about a tale of young illusionist with a grandiose attitude who is forced to flee a traveling circus. His hot air balloon is swept up by a tornado to the land of Oz, which is run by two magical wicked witches.

James previously worked with Sam Raimi in the "Spider-Man" trilogy, thus it will be possible for him to get the role. Moreover, his talent is undoubtedly acclaimed and his popularity is on the peak right now. This movie is to be released in 2013, with Mitchell Kapnerr ("Romeo Must Die") as the screenplay writer.

First look at "Captain America: The First Avenger" first teaser poster!

Thanks to Marvel which just released the first teaser poster of upcoming "Captain America: The First Avenger"! Chris Evans looks really cool in the picture, check it out below!

Catch "Captain America" on July 22, starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, and Dominic Cooper, directed by Joe Johnston.

Eva Green is the female lead in "Dark Shadows"

Magnificent director Tim Burton is remaking the popular 1960s horror soap opera "Dark Shadows" into a motion picture. He already chose Johnny Depp — his ultimate muse — for the leading man as Barnabas Collins, which is a vampire.

There were talks about who's going to play opposite Depp in the horror movie, and finally it went to the French actress Eva Green (who was famous of portraying Vesper Lynd, the girl who broke James Bond's heart in "Casino Royale"), according to Deadline. Green landed a role as Angelique, a powerful witch who has an affair with Barnabas. Green will star amongst other actresses who reportedly also landed roles in this movie, Bella Heathcote as Victoria Winters and Jackie Earle Haley as Willie Loomis.

"Dark Shadows" will feature a lot of supernatural creatures, from vampires, zombies, witches, monsters, warlocks, even parallel universe. I haven't watched the series but knowing that the ingenious Tim Burton will direct it, this will probably be amazing. I already imagined that we'll see breathtaking visualization in this movie like he did to "Alice in Wonderland" and "Sweeney Todd"!

I found a fan-made trailer of the classic "Dark Shadows" on YouTube, about the ressurection of Barnabas Collins, which I think it's pretty awesome. Please check it out below:

Three stills from "On The Road" with Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, and Sam Riley

Even though I haven't read any Jack Kerouac books, I'm pretty much thrilled about this movie. I read the synopsis and I think it will be really 'deep', knowing that "On The Road" is actually a biography of Kerouac — in which he used his alter-ego.

Also, the director of "On The Road" movie is Walter Salles, who previously directed the amazing "The Motorcycle Diaries". He cast "Tron: Legacy" star Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, and British model and musician Sam Riley for this movie. Sounds like very indie, doesn't it?

And here are three first stills from "On the Road" with the three leading actors in them:

Garrett Hedlund is such a hottie, I know. This movie is currently in post-production and to be release this year, with no specific dates yet.

Four Lovely Ladies are in try-outs to play a spy character in "The Avengers"

Cobie Smulders
More news about one of the most awaited superhero movies in 2012 (besides "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Spider-Man" of course!), "The Avengers"!

Marvel announced that they will have screen-tests for a final supporting character in the upcoming Joss Whedon-directed movie "The Avengers". As explained by Samuel L. Jackson on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, they are currently looking for a key member of espionage agency by Nick Fury (the character played by Jackson). People speculated that the role will be an Avenger member Janet van Dyne/ The Wasp, but Marvel hasn't confirmed anything about this.

Jessica Lucas
The four names on the list are: Morena Baccarin, Jessica Lucas, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Cobie Smulders. Not so familiar with their names? Well then let me introduce them to you.

Morena Baccarin worked with Whedon in the sci-fi TV series "Firefly", and is set to star in the movie version of it, "Serenity". She's quite known in US, but for me who lives in Indonesia, this actually the first time I heard about her. But she has an advantage here, because she already knew and worked with the director.

Jessica Lucas might be known from her role in "Melrose Place" series, but I first noticed her in JJ Abram's 2008 'revolutionary' movie "Cloverfield" (she's one of the four leading actors, and as I remember, she's the only one who succeed to get away from Manhattan by helicopter before it was bombed).

Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Mary Elizabeth Winstead might be the most known of them all, and this might be advantageous for her. She starred in "Sky High", became Bruce Willis' daughter in "Live Free or Die Hard", one of the ensemble cast in biopic "Bobby", and last year she appeared as Ramona in "Scott Pilgrim vs the World".

Last but not least is Cobie Smulders. For those who often see her on TV, yes, she's the star of "How I Met Your Mother", played a Canadian living in the US, Robin Scherbatsky. She hasn't starred in any major movies yet, and if she got picked up for "The Avengers", this will be her biggest hit.

About "The Avengers" itself, the cast of previous Marvel heroes movies will gather here. Robert Downey Jr will play Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Mark Ruffalo as Hulk (who replaced Edward Norton).

Movie Review: "Let Me In"

"Let Me In" is probably one of my most favorite horror movie ever!
To celebrate yesterday's release of "Let Me In" DVD and Blu-Ray, I am going to review this one of the best horror movies I've seen! The reason why I was eager to watch this movie so much is: 1) I basically love vampire movies, and 2) the main cast (including the vampire) are children. I saw it for the first time on a Korean music video, which was the soundtrack, and it was all about the movie clips. When I found out that Chloe G. Moretz played a vampire, I put "Let Me In" directly to my 'must watch' list.

Previously I have reviewed the original Swedish version of this movie, "Let The Right One In". It was great, the whole movie was cold and thrilling — it's silent but scary. I barely heard a scoring background in every scene, silence is all around. The feel of cold came out because of that reason, moreover the setting was very snowy. Comparing to the Swedish version, I must say that I enjoyed the English more.

Matt Reeves (the genius behind 2008 hit "Cloverfield" — one of the best fake-documentary movie I've seen after "The Blair Witch Project" and better before "Paranormal Activity") successfully made a fast-paced plot to "Let Me In", so it wasn't too silent and wouldn't make you sleepy.

Still the same story, only different location and names. Set in New Mexico around 1983, a 12 years-old Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) is struggling with life in home, dealing with the divorce of his parents; and in school, he is so powerless when it comes to bullies. Thus he becomes a loner, someone who doesn't talk too much but keeping a grudge inside him. When he is alone he loves to act as if he bullies a little girl, something that he won't dare to do in real life.

One day he finally meets the girl who just moved in right next to him with her father outside of their apartment. Her name is Abby (Chloe Grace Moretz). She is a weirdo, that's what he thinks, because she walks with barefeet on the snow wearing only a thin jacket. She says, "I'm not what you think I am," and "We shouldn't be friends,". Owen doesn't know that she brings much 'bad luck' to the small town — well not him, but to the other innocent people.

They fall for each other, of course, and it's a good chemistry. Soon after Owen finds out that Abby is not a human, he gets angry. But at the same time he can't just let her go, because she's practically his only friend. She's the one who encourages him to fight back to the bullies, and he did so. Owen is still in his skinny figure, but his mental grows stronger. In return, Owen teaches Abby how to love, thus she doesn't feel insecure anymore of what she really is. In short, he gives a light of hope to her.

Abby the vampire girl!
The scary part wasn't only when Abby feed on her victims (and when her face changed, my goodness...), but the fact that she's a monster in disguise. We have no idea whether she actually fell in love with Owen, or she just wanted to keep him replacing her previous partner (which only described as her 'father', but he actually wasn't. In a scene, it revealed that her 'father' was a little guy like Owen whom she kept for a very long time to be with her — not just to be her lover but also her 'babysitter' who brings her 'food' everytime she gets 'hungry'.)

This isn't a movie for children, that's for sure. Blood is everywhere. And even though it wasn't very graphic, it's truly disturbing for me. I feel so bad for Owen, his dilemma that is. If he didn't meet Abby he might be still living his miserable life, in which he had wished to get away of. He doesn't want to live there anymore, he wants a new life. And when he meets Abby he knows that he finally gets that chance. To runaway from his sad life, which will make him happier because he's able to be with a girl he likes.

Trust me Owen, if you see it through a different perspective, I believe you'll realize that you have the wrong choice.

This movie is definitely a must-watch material, if you love horror movies! Three stars out of five!

The Hottest Stars are on the Vanity Fair's Hollywood Issue cover

Vanity Fair's March Hollywood Issue cover: too hot to be true!
You might have seen the super hot cover of Vanity Fair's next month Hollywood Issue, which I really like! All of the people on the covers are my favorites, and I'm so happy that they have received such amazing reception last year, and will shine on again this year. Let's check out each actor's achievement and upcoming projects from left to right (special extended introduction for the four main actors on the cover)!

Ryan Reynolds. Named as Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine last year, he's also probably an actor with the sexiest career. Movie goers started to recognize him more since 2009, where he appeared in four famous hits, from an indie feature "Adventureland", the summer blockbuster "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" where he played one of the X-heroes Deadpool, a romantic-comedy "The Proposal" alongside Sandra Bullock, and a critically-acclaimed indie drama "Paper Man". In 2010 he appeared in a thrilling movie "Buried", in which he had to deal with claustrophobic death trap while he is buried alive inside a coffin. He was cast as one of the most famous DC Comics character Green Lantern which will come out this summer, and a comedy "The Change Up" with Jason Bateman. He is currently signed for four projects, "RIPD", "The Croods", "Most Wanted", and "Safe House", and announced to star in X-Men's spin-off about "Deadpool" in 2012. Way to go, Ryan!

Jake Gyllenhaal. The Academy Award nominated actor (thanks to "Brokeback Mountain") was up for Golden Globe Awards earlier this year for his role in "Love and Other Drugs" (which eventually went to Paul Giamatti in "Barney's Vision"). He appeared in last year's summer blockbuster "Prince of Persia" as the iconic hero Prince Dastan. The Maggie Gyllenhaal's younger brother won't stop pleasing his loyal audience, by starring in upcoming sci-fi thriller "Source Code", alongside Vera Farmiga and Michelle Monaghan, and later a comedy titled "Nailed" with Jessica Biel, James Marsden, and Catherine Keener. Ever since he starred in the mystery "Donnie Darko", his career never stop climbing. "The Day After Tomorrow", "Jarhead", and "Zodiac" in which he starred as the leading role were all hits. He was back then rumored to replace Tobey Maguire for "Spider-Man", and although it didn't happen, he and Tobey starred in 2009's drama "Brothers" (as brothers, of course) with Natalie Portman and it received many positive receptions from movie critics. Looking forward for new Gyllenhaal movies!

Anne Hathaway. For me, she'll always be the "Princess Amelia of Genovia". "Princess Diaries" was the first movie where I caught Anne for the first time, and I liked her immediately. She's likeable, funny, and witty, there's no reason to hate her. From "Bride Wars" to "The Devil Wears Prada", seems like she really fits in playing any role she wants. But she proved that she is also capable in doing dramatic roles, by getting an Academy Award nomination for her role in "Rachel Getting Married". She starred in 'serious' movies like "Havoc" (with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as well — and there was a LOT of nudity, I was kinda shocked that Anne was willing to star in this kind of movie!) and "Brokeback Mountain" (as Jake Gyllenhaal's wife). And just like Gyllenhaal, she was nominated for a Golden Globe for "Love and Other Drugs" in which she starred with Gyllenhaal, again. She is currently signed to play Batman's famous lover/enemy Catwoman in upcoming "The Dark Knight Rises", and she is set to host the Oscars this month with the guy who's on her right...

James Franco. Forget about Harry Osborn the Spider-Man's frienemy, the UCLA attendee has been stepping into the more mature and classier role. Remember his great portrayal of Harvey Milk's gay-lover Scott Smith in "Milk" with Sean Penn? Well yes, I'm talking about a true talent. In 2010 he appeared in five movies; "Date Night", "Howl", a leading role in "William Vincent", "Eat Pray Love", and the movie which made him receive an Oscar nomination this year, "127 Hours". More invasion of James Franco this year, again with five movies; "Your Highness", "Rise of the Apes", "The Broken Tower", "Lovelace", and "The Iceman". Well I don't think the host will win the Oscar (afterall, people are already rooting for Colin Firth in "The King's Speech"), but this is an inevitable achievement for the actor who's currently enrolling as a college student. Watching he and Anne host the Oscar will be lovely!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt to star in "The Dark Knight Rises"

Seems like the "500 Days of Summer" actor will 'work together' again with his "Inception" director Christopher Nolan. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is reportedly in talks to join the upcoming Batman sequel "The Dark Knight Rises", along with recurring cast Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and two new additional names Anne Hathaway (who will play Selina Kyle/ Catwoman) and Tom Hardy (Bane).

It hasn't been confirmed of what role Levitt is going to play, even though a lot of sources said that he'll likely to play The Riddler. He is currently filming action sci-fi "Looper" with Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt, and will start to film "The Dark Knight Rises" in spring as Nolan have scheduled. I really love JGL (yeah that's his nickname), he's a talented actor and he will surely bring a great persona in the Batman movie.

This year Levitt will appear as a leading actor in "Live With It", a drama comedy about 27 years-old man who's diagnosed with cancer and his struggle to beat the disease. It will be released September 23 in United States, also starring Anna Kendrick, Seth Rogen, and Bryce Dallas Howard.

In Profile: Rooney Mara

Finally I managed to finish the first article of my monthly feature In Profile. This article is aimed to introduce talented rising stars—who are mostly in my age, so I'll be very picky in choosing the subject. And for this lovely February, I'm proudly going to introduce... Rooney Mara!

As you might have noticed from the twitter, I'm currently admiring this 25 years-old actress. She started out her acting career in 2005, but got her first big break in 2009 after starring in "Dare" and "The Winning Season", which premiered in the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, and finally a comedy hit "Youth in Revolt" along with Michael Cera. She also made a guest appearance in television series "ER" in the same year. Those roles brought her to be included in "25 New Faces of Independent Film" by Filmmaker magazine.

In 2010, Rooney's career went even brighter. She landed the leading role in the famous remake of "A Nightmare on Elm's Street", as Nancy Holbrook. "She's socially awkward and timid and really doesn't know how to connect with people," Rooney explained about her character. It was a huge hit, grossing $ 115 million around the world, despite the negative critics, and she has been signed to do a sequel for the movie.

* * *

Her next project was David Fincher's directed movie "The Social Network", adapted from Ben Mezrich best-selling novel, "The Accidental Billionaires", revealing the ugly-truth behind explosive success of the most popular social networking website today, Facebook. As you know now, the movie was deemed as 'best movie of the year', and is up for Best Picture nominee in Academy Awards. Rooney auditioned for the role Erica Albright, Mark Zuckerberg's then girlfriend who 'inspired' him to create Facebook.

"We read everybody in the world for the part of Erica," Fincher reminisced about the day he cast 'Erica Albright' role, as he told W Magazine. "It’s only one scene, but it sets the tone for the rest of the movie. When Rooney walked in, I said, 'There’s the girl!'".

And he did it right. Rooney's performance as Erica Albright attracted many critics. Do you still remember the opening scene of "Social Network" where Erica and Mark were having a warm chat but then ended up ugly in breaking apart? Fincher shot that likely-simple scene for 99 takes in two days. He tried out many things from different aspects, particularly emotional. He wanted to describe the relationship of Erica and Mark without showing it explicitly. So we all know about how much they like each other, did they ever sleep together, how close they are.

"Rooney and I decided that Zuckerberg had not sealed the deal," Fincher finally explained. "And I needed to have that information for the scene to work,". Again, he did it right. The scene was more-than-just-a break up scene. It was full of smart dialogues, and we can see clearly Erica's expression shift from lively to terribly mad. Rooney nailed her role.

Rooney and Jesse Eisenberg portraying Erica Albright and Mark Zuckerberg respectively in "The Social Network". The opening scene at the bar was a great one, I must say.

Scott Feingerg, an avid Oscar blogger, even wrote that he was blown away by Rooney's performance in "The Social Network". "The five-minute-long opening scene of “The Social Network,” in which Albright butts heads with and ultimately breaks up with Zuckerberg, is, for my money, the most electric and memorable of any this year," Feingerg wrote on his blog.

"One could argue that Mara had even heavier lifting to do than Eisenberg in that scene, since his character’s job is essentially to be a prick (or “asshole,” as Albright calls him), while hers must transform from someone who cared enough about him at the start of the evening to meet him for a drink into someone who grows so flustered, insulted, and repulsed by him that she can no longer bear to even sit at the same table as him. All the while, she conveys a simple beauty, intelligence, and wit that leaves moviegoers flabbergasted that Zuckerberg would do anything to risk losing her," he continued.

As the award season is gearing up and "The Social Network" has been receiving a lot (like, so many!) of awards since the end of 2010 — including the best ensemble cast, Feingerg also expected that Rooney would be more 'appreciated' in this role, and he even suggested The Academy (main board committee of the Oscar) to include her in the Best Supporting Actress nomination. Unfortunately, Rooney herself wasn't in US most of the days when the award season started, because she already got her first most extreme and claim-to-fame leading role, Lisbeth Salander in "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo".

"I am totally convinced that Mara would be generating serious awards buzz right about now if she, like all of the other people competing for a nomination, could have been in the United States at the time of her film’s release to promote it and, in so doing, herself," Feingerg explained. "Some will undoubtedly disparage the very notion that Mara is worthy of a nomination for her work in “The Social Network” because she appears in so few scenes and has such little screen time. I would remind them to consider two things: (1) the quality of her work in those scenes, and (2) the numerous precedents of brief appearances being recognized in this category," he continued on supporting Rooney to be nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category.

Rooney's drastic transformation from a beautiful girl-next-door to the goth-lady Lisbeth.

Even though she didn't make the nominations cut, she is now enjoying her day filming "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" in Sweden, with the same director as "The Social Network". It is based on the best-selling Swedish book with the same name by Stieg Larrson, which was previously made into movie of the same name, only in Swedish. Actress Naomi Rapace portrayed Lisbeth first at the Swedish version, and she was highly praised. Now Rooney has to prove to the audience — as people started to bicker about why do they have to make the American version — that she can do as great as Rapace, or even better.

The audition of Lisbeth was quite radical. Rooney had to reenact one of the most famous Lisbeth scene on the book, a rape scene. Rooney was succeed in the audition, beating other famous names as Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, and Jennifer Lawrence. After the brutal rape scene, Fincher asked Rooney to do more screen tests before finally she got the role. After that, as you can see, there's a significant transformation in Rooney's recent looks. Her hair is darker, way shorter — in a very messy way — with body full of tattoos and piercings. She is now Lisbeth Salander.

* * *

Apart from her rising successful career, there's another thing that made me admire her outside of her cinema world. Rooney founded Faces of Kibera, a non-profit organization concerning about the life of children in Kibera, one of the largest slum in Nairobi, Kenya. One million people are living in this area without proper facilities. The idea of making this organization came up after Rooney taking a voluntary trip to Kibera back in 2006.

Six month after the voluntary program, Rooney came back to Kibera bought 6 acres of land, to build an orphanage in the region. She held a fundraising event both on and offline, enabling her organization to buy backpacks for the children, to provide clean water, housing, food, and medical care for the orphans. She sold some memorabilia from the famous football club in US, Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants, in which her parents take part as the board member.

Rooney said to Interview magazine back in 2009 about her frustration with the growing number of non-profits that are just business opportunities. "The people who need help aren’t really getting it. So I started my own,". She was touched by the Kiberan children whose parents died from HIV/AIDS, and didn't have a fair living.

* * *

Born Patricia Rooney Mara, she was raised in a wealthy family, particularly football royalty. Her father, Timothy Mara, is grandson of New York Giants founder Tim Mara and currently served as the vice president of the club. Her mother is granddaughter of Art Rooney the founder of Pittsburgh Steelers. But she is hardly a picture of a spoiled rich-girl, since she has a clear aim of her future.

She attended Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University, studied psychology, international social policy, and nonprofits. Before that, she took a trip to South America, visiting Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia for four months as part of the Traveling School, to learn more about environment.

She became interested in acting after the success of her older sister's career, Kate Mara, which starred in famous titles as "Brokeback Mountain", "We Are Marshall", and "Shooter". "I always wanted to be an actor, but I was always fighting it," Rooney said. "It never seemed that honorable to me, and I guess I was always afraid that I might fail. [...] I love my sister and have looked up to her my whole life — to the point of annoying her and wanting to be like her. I followed her around and stole her clothes, I still do."

* * *

All I want to say is the best luck for her career and charity program! God bless you, Rooney!

"The King's Speech" is the biggest winner of Screen Actors Guild Awards!

Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter, and Geoffrey Rush presenting "The King's Speech" at Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Tom Hooper's critically acclaimed "The King's Speech" snatched the biggest award of tonight's Screen Actors Guld Awards (SAG Awards) as Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture—or shortly Best Movie! Colin Firth, leading actor of "The King's Speech" also won Best Actor, beating Jeff Bridges for "True Grit", Jesse Eisenberg for "The Social Network", Robert Duvall for "Get Low", and James Franco for "127 Hours". While the Best Actress went to "Black Swan" leading lady Natalie Portman.

Another big winners are the cast of "The Fighter", in which Christian Bale (the birthday boy—he's officially 37 tonight!) and Melissa Leo named as Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress respectively. Both were also the winners of Best Supporting roles in the previous Golden Globe Awards.

As for the television category, Best Comedy went to "Modern Family" (which surprisingly beat the favorited nominee "Glee"), while the Best Drama went to "Boardwalk Empire". Alec Baldwin and Betty White were Best Actors in Comedy Series. Steve Buschemi, who previously won Best Actor for Television Series in Golden Globe also won Best Actor for Drama TV Series, while the Best Actress was Julianna Margulies. Click "Read More" for full winner list.

Congratulations for all the winners! This speculates that "The King's Speech" might be the strongest candidate to win in the next award show, Orange British Academy Film Awards (or the BAFTAs), or even the Academy Awards.

Another personal note to myself: I need to see "The King's Speech" real soon. Before the Oscars!

Introducing the new Superman, Henry Cavill!

Finally after months and months of speculation on who's going to replace Brandon Routh as the man of steel in the upcoming Zack Snyder's reboot, Warner Bros Pictures and Legendary Pictures officially announced that British actor Henry Cavill got the role, as reported by Movie Web!

"In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield," said Snyder.

What's more exciting about this movie is that Christopher Nolan (yes, that director of "The Dark Knight" and "Inception" who didn't get the cut in this year's Oscars as Best Director) will take part as one of the producers along with Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, and Snyder's spouse Deborah Snyder. David S. Goyer is the screenwriter, based on a story by himself and Nolan!

Cavill is famous of his role in television series "The Tudors" as Charles Brandon. He also starred in "Tristan + Isolde", Woody Allen's "Whatever Works", and "Stardust". His upcoming movie is "The Cold Light of Day" and "Immortals", to be released this year. Cavill beat other Superman candidates and you might recognize these famous names; Matthew Goode (who previously worked with Snyder in "Watchmen"), Matthew Bomer (star of television series "White Collar"), Armie Hammer (that "Social Network" hottie twins), Joe Manganiello (the werewolf of "True Blood"), and Colin O'Donaghue (who currently starred in "The Rite" with Anthony Hopkins).

The reboot of Superman, which will be titled "Man of Steel", is out 2012.
