Some trailers of the exciting upcoming movies are finally released! But don't expect them to be explosive and fast paced like the summer blockbuster ones, since the genres are mostly drama (well, there's one alien invasion movie though). See them all below:
"Attack The Block"
Premiered in SXSW 2011, "Attack The Block" displayed a bunch of exciting and funny scenes. When a teen gang gathers up at their block, a meteor-like fire falls down from the sky, which turns out to be an unidentified monster comes from outer space. The gang has to keep their block safe from the aliens with their knowledge of fighting and shooting (they are members of a gang, they should know how to fight and shoot right? ;D). Directed and written by Joe Cornish, this British movie stars Nick Frost, Jodie Whittaker, and Luke Treadaway, while "Shaun Of The Dead" and "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" producers, Jenny Boggars, Will Clarke, Matthew Justice, and Lucy Pardee are the execs of this movie. "Attack The Block" will be released on May 13, 2011 at the UK.
"Larry Crowne"
One of my all-time favorite actor Tom Hanks makes a comeback this year in this drama comedy "Larry Crowne". He stars as Larry Crowne, a middle-aged man who loses his job and then reinvents himself by going back to college. Crowne used to be the 'star' in the big-box company before the firing occured. In college, he meets and joins a colorful community of the outcasts, and also falls with his public speaking class teacher Mercedes Tainot (Julia Roberts). Starts from here, Crowne learns something valuable of his life: when you think everything worth having has passed you by, you just might discover your reason to live. Wilmer Valderrama, Bryan Cranston, Taraji P. Henson also star in this self-directed-and-written movie by Tom Hanks. It opens July 1, 2011 in US.
"Friends With Benefits"
Seems like Justin Timberlake is now invading the cinema world! The pop-prince-to-be stars in this romantic comedy movie along with Golden Globe nominee Mila Kunis. Tells about two friends Jamie (Kunis) and Dylan (Timberlake) who separated from their 'significant others' in a night. The heartbrokens meet and made a deal: since they are now single, they don't have any 'sleeping partners' therefore they have to be 'partners' to each other as friends. But from this description we already know where it leads: it's either the two will eventually fall for each other or decide to look for another real lover. Well that's what I think. Emma Stone, Andy Samberg, Rashida Jones, and Patricia Clarkson also star, and to be released in July 22, 2011.
"Bag Of Hammers"
Besides "Attack The Block", this also premiered in SXSW 2011. "Bag Of Hammers" tells about two misfit best friends incapable of growing up, whose direction is tested by an abandoned child, worn beyond his years; together they invent the family they've always needed. Starring Jason Ritter, Jake Sandvig, Chandler Canterburry, Rebecca Hall and Carrie Preston, this comedy is directed by newcomer Brian Cano. No release date is set for "Bag Of Hammers" yet.
"The Beaver"
Even though "The Beaver" has famous leading actors Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster, I am more interested in watching this for the two young talented ones Anton Yelchin and Jennifer Lawrence. Tells about a troubled husband and executive, Walter Black (Gibson), who adopts a beaver hand-puppet as his sole means of communicating to his wife Meredith Black (Foster) and angry son Porter (Yelchin). This movie initially got a limited release on March 23 but pushed back to May 6, 2011. Watch the latest three clips below.
